toward flood relief. You will not receive a refund.
Who Started This Thing?
The idea for Nashville Flood Relief T-shirts was the brainchild of Franklin-based graphic designer, Susannah Parrish of texaSUS design. The Tuesday following the floods, Susannah was inspired with a t-shirt design, and she hoped to sell a couple of hundred shirts to her friends, hand the money to an organization and that’s it. However, after posting the initial artwork on Facebook, the design created a viral marketing explosion with over 25,000 fans in a few short days.
After creating two designs, Susannah partnered with Render Apparel to bring the artwork to life in cotton wearables.
Also on board is ST8MNT.com, a graphic design company, who helped with the web site and developed an on-line retail store as well as additional designs.
Will these three companies make any profit? Absolutely not. 100% of the profits will go to the organizations listed below.
Who is getting the money? The four companies involved chose the recipients of the funds:
CROSSPOINT CHURCH
A Nashville-based church with satellite campuses in Dickson, Goodlettsville and a soon-to-be opened Bellevue campus. The Bellevue campus is serving as headquarters for the majority of the volunteer work being done. Crosspoint was chosen as a recipient because they were on the scene with relief and volunteers within hours of the floods occurring. They have already had a tremendous impact in helping several communities and continue to coordinate clean-up, feeding, and other relief efforts. All money going to Crosspoint will be specifically for flood relief and will not go toward the general operating funds of the church.
grace church nashville Grace Church is located in the Cool Springs area and also serves the Nashville area. Volunteers from Grace Church serve both individual families as well as the large disaster relief organizations within the surrounding communities. All money going to Grace Church will be specifically for flood relief and will not go toward the general operating funds of the church.
united way of williamson county We are partnering directly with the United Way of Williamson County. By partnering with the local chapter the money will go directly into the affected area and be used specifically for flood relief. None of the money for the sale of these shirts will go to national or international efforts of the United Way. All money going to United Way will be specifically for flood relief and will not go toward the general operating funds of the church.
MusiCares
MusiCares has established the MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief Fund to assist music people affected by the floods.
I don’t like the charities and churches you chose. I want to support a different organization. We understand that everyone has different passions. These are ours. We expect and encourage you to support whichever charity you choose. However, if you decide to purchase one of these shirts, the organizations that we mentioned above will receive the proceeds.
Are you a legally formed not-for-profit organization? As mentioned previously, this has been a whirlwind. We are in the process of obtaining the correct status for our ventures.
Why don’t you make shirts for other areas affected? Nashville wasn’t the only place to be flooded. We know that there were several cities affected by this natural disaster. We live in the greater Nashville area so naturally this design was the first to come to mind. Also, since Nashville is the capitol city of the State, we felt it represented all Tennesseans. These are all the designs that are available at this time.
I had some problems placing my order. How do I know it was actually received? If you received a confirmation email stating that your order was placed, your shirts will be shipped as soon as possible.
If you did not receive a confirmation of your order, it probably was not received properly and should be resubmitted.
How come I can't reach anyone by phone to discuss my order? As stated previously, we are a very small group of volunteers doing this in our spare time. There simply isn't anyone to field phone calls. The phone number listed on shipping invoices is a default non-number the software assigned.
Why was I billed immediately and I'm still waiting on my order? We're sorry for the inconvenience of billing upon ordering. The online store is set up to automatically take payment upon authorization of the transaction. We simply don't have the manpower to manually click to charge payment upon fulfilling each order. You can see other folks receiving their order and showing their shirt on Facebook, so we assure you your funds are not part of a scam.
Why is it taking so long to receive my shirt? As stated previously, we never could have imagined so many shirts would be ordered. We are ordering blank shirts, and then ordering the printing on them, and then having a fulfillment house package them up, and then mailing them out via USPS. All the vendors we are using are giving us very inexpensive prices so that a huge amount can go to charity, and for that reason each step of the way takes a little longer. If cost were no object, we could pay top dollar for overnighting blanks from all over, and get them first in line for quick printing, and fed ex overnight them out to each customer. However, we are very proud of the fact that we've kept costs extremely low to raise as much for flood relief as possible.
